Art Classes
The Art Room is a beautiful, bright art studio located in Bangor, Wisconsin. Here instructor Katie Meyer teaches high quality art classes to all ages, because art is for everyone! Katie has a Masters Degree in Art Education and many years of experience teaching K-12 and college level art in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Maine.
We offer many different medias to explore; printmaking, acrylic painting, watercolor, oil pastels, drawing, jewelry, sculpture and more! Art classes include art history information, art technique demonstrations and a supportive, fun environment.
Our mission is to spread creativity and build community through art making.
Serving La Crosse, Onalaska, Holmen, West Salem, Sparta, Tomah, Viroqua and the Greater Coulee Region.
WHO WE ARE
We opened our doors in October 2023 in charming Bangor, Wisconsin. The by studio used to house Bangor Metal Smith business from 1920-1980. Our goal was to preserve the past when remodeling the space, with original metal ceilings and other historic features left intact.
Instructor Katie works extremely hard to help cultivate the inner artist in all of her students. We offer a wide variety of art classes in order to to inspire and enhance everyone’s creative spark and spirit. You can also book private art making parties (from Birthdays to work events).
OIL PASTELS
Oil pastels are wonderful for blending and creating vibrant works of art. We include this media in many of our children’s art classes.
WATERCOLOR PAINTING
We offer watecoor classes for all levels from beginners to advanced. In class you will learn and apply different watercolor techniques (such as wet on wet, wet on dry and dry brush application). After you learn new skills through demonstration and one on one guidance, you will create a beautiful artwork to take home. •Adult classes use liquid watercolors.
ACRYLIC PAINTING
We offer a wide variety of subjects in acrylic paint on stretched canvas. You will learn about color mixing, brush techniques, shading, tinting, composition and so much more! Class sizes are kept small in order to ensure each participant gets enough attention from the instructor.
PENCIL DRAWING
The foundation of art is the drawing process, demonstrations are included in most all of our classes.Intermediate and advanced drawing, perspective, shading and value technique classes are offered occasionally and request.
All of our classes focus on the process, rather than the product. We believe each piece of art created in the studio is a masterpiece!
SCULPTURE
We offer a variety of mixed media sculpture classes that are fun for the whole family!

KIDS ART CLUB
Every other Friday, a group of creative children gather for an hour of art making, growth and community building. Overtime and consistency Katie gets to foster their art skills and confidence. We also have SO much fun! •$20 for drop in classes.•$15 if you purchase 4 classes at a time.

CLEARWATER FARM PAINTING CLASS
Vocabulary: drawing from observation, visual texture, organic shapes, warm and cool colors.
CHILDREN’S PRINTMAKING CLASS
Vocabulary: positive and negative space, elements and principles of design-line, shapes, pattern, balance.
LINOCUT PRINTMAKING CLASS
Vocabulary: positive and negative space, composition, brayer, carving tool, printing ink, visual texture.
ACRYLIC PAINTING CLASS
Vocabulary: hue, tinting and shading, symmetry, design.
CHILDREN’S JUNGLE ANIMAL CLASS
Vocabulary: organic shape, drawing from observation, sketching, warm and cool colors, color mixing.
